The amateur spirit of running is never more alive than in the dead of February. Temperatures plummet. Lungs sting. The pavement below your feet is encased in an uneven crust of snow, slush, ice and salt. Some days are simply insufferable. But you suffer them nonetheless.
For those who own February's inclement weather we built the No Days Off Collection for you.
To capture the plight of February running, we followed two of the sport's top amateurs - sub-four minute miler Taylor Gilland and Olympian Ruben Sanca - through a day of intense training. Photography by Emily Maye.
7:29 AM. 16 degrees fahrenheit. 2” of fresh snow. In the dead of winter there’s nothing like another warm body to keep you motivated. Ruben joins Taylor as they head to the East Village Track.

Greatness may sit in the cubicle next to yours. Mild-mannered investment banker by day, the 24-year-old is one of only 430 Americans to ever break four minutes in the mile.
At 28 years old, the Cape Verdean marathoner is living the American dream. Ruben has a degree from UMASS Lowell and is currently balancing a full-time job with training to qualify for the 2016 Olympics.
10k tempo run at Ruben’s marathon pace in the books.

A french-press pit stop before the second training session. Stayed longer than intended. Taylor had a crush on the barista.
Ruben had to battle tired legs and a strong wind ripping up the East River. February isn't easy.
